100 Mile House was a stopping house 100 miles from Lillooet on the Cariboo Waggon Road. At 93 Mile, the Interlakes Highway 24 accesses a lake-dotted paradise, where just relaxing is close behind fishing in popularity. Several restaurants at lakeside resorts feature cuisine ideas brought recently from Europe. The resorts cater to dedicated fishing people, boaters and water sport lovers, as well as biking, hiking and horse enthusiasts, and those out for a beautiful drive. Antique shops are worth visiting. Artists, too, draw inspiration from this area.

History

Highway 24 follows the historic Bridge Trail, originally used by the Shuswap people as a trade route and was later developed by the Hudson's Bay Company in the early 1800s' to bring furs from northern BC out to Fort Kamloops and the Columbia River.

Interesting communities to explore along the highway include Lone Butte, Sheridan Lake and Bridge Lake. Popular acitivites include:

Alternate routes

Highway 24 offers a less busy route for travelers to Kamloops or Jasper via Hwy 7. Highway 24 also provides access to many good secondary roads, which extend north to Mahood Lake and Wells Gray Park and south to the Green-Bonaparte Lakes area.
